Director Seth Gordon is staying in business with Universal Pictures.
After helming the hit comedy for the studio, Gordon has boarded the thriller as a starring vehicle for his stars Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis.
Universal nabbed the spec by T.J. Fixman, which first made the rounds in 2011 but languished.

The story revolves around a by-the-books rookie cop on his first night on the job and his jaded veteran partner. The pair are tasked with transporting a federal witness from New Jersey to Manhattan. The only things standing between them: dirty cops, dirty criminals and the Hudson River.
Mary Parent and Cale Boyter are producing via Parent’s Disruption Entertainment banner. Scott Bernstein will oversee the project for the studio.
Gordon has been on a tear since he first burst on to the scene with the 2007 Slamdance documentary . marks his third film to cross the $100 million domestic box office threshold (joining and ). would mark his first thriller.

Day, who stars on, writes and exec produces is additionally represented by 3 Arts and attorney David Weber.
The CAA-repped Sudeikis, a castmember of, is also set to reprise hisalongside Day. He will next appear in opposite Jennifer Aniston. He is also managed by Brillstein.
Fixman, who has penned a number of video games, is also Fourth Floor Prods.
