Tony Awards Return to Radio City


Tony Awards Neil Patrick Harris Host - H 2012

After two years uptown at the Beacon Theatre, the annual ceremony honoring the best of Broadway will be back at its longtime midtown home in June.

Broadway’s big night is moving back to the home of the Rockettes.

Following two years in which a booking conflict forced the Tony Awards to relocate uptown to the more intimate Beacon Theatre, the 2013 ceremony, set for June 9, will again be aired live on CBS from its traditional venue, Radio City Music Hall.

No host has yet been announced for the awards show, which last year was emceed for the third time by Neil Patrick Harris. The 2011 ceremony, also hosted by Harris and dominated by multiple wins for , received four Primetime Emmy Awards last year.

Eligibility cutoff for consideration in the 67th Tony Awards, covering the 2012-13 theater season, is April 25. Nominations will be announced live from New York City the morning of April 30.

The final shows scheduled to open before this year’s deadline are Horton Foote‘s , in a nontraditionally cast production starring Cicely Tyson, Vanessa Williams and Cuba Gooding Jr. (April 23); the Bette Midler solo vehicle , by  screenwriter John Logan (April 24); and a major revival of the 1972 musical (April 25).

The Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and The American Theatre Wing. Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss of White Cherry Entertainment will return as executive producers for the 2013 event, with Weiss directing.
