Bobby Brown Begins DUI Jail Sentence

Bobby Brown New Edition at Mohegan Sun

The musician will serve 55 days behind bars after a February conviction.

Bobby Brown has begun his 55-day jail sentence.

The R&B singer and ex-husband of Whitney Houston turned himself in at a Los Angeles courthouse on Wednesday, reports, after pleading no contest to driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license in February. Brown was arrested in October.

In addition to serving jail time, Brown will also be required to serve four years of informal probation and complete an 18-month alcohol treatment program after he is released.

Last year, Brown avoided jail time after pleading no contest to a March 2012 drunk driving case. In between the arrests, the 44-year-old released his first album in 14 years and wed manager Alicia Etheredge in Hawaii during a stop on his New Edition tour.
